In 336 BC, the congress of the Delphic amphictyony decided to mint its own coinage. The photograph shows a silver stater of the amphictyonies, c. 336 BC. The reverse shows the god, Apollo, sitting on an omphalus and leaning on a lyre holding an olive branch. The representation is framed by the inscription AMPHICTIONON.
