A small black-figure plate by the Lydos Painter. The Homeric hero, Achilles, is depicted preparing for the Trojan campaign. He is wearing his greaves, whilst Thetis holds his shield and spear for him. Behind her stands Achilles' son, Neoptolemus, whilst Peleas, to the left, looks on. 560 BC.
