In Athens the Frankish conquerors took the region as a fief, whereas the indigenous people were reduced to the status of serfdom. On the picture, double bow (added with plaster) that is believed to have decorated the tomb of a Frankish couple. It was made by an Athenian workshop, which in the 13th century produced works with western influences.
