The Partitio terrarum imperii Romaniae (a treaty that partitioned the Byzantine Empire) was signed on 1 October 1204. On the strength of this treaty, 5/8 of Constantinople were ceded to the Latin emperor, whereas the remaining 3/8 devolved to the control of Venice.
