FHW’s Genealogy and Oral History Department organized on the 24th of May 2009 at Hellenic Cosmos an open discussion about the genealogy and the history of the family and how it relates to the common history of Hellenism in Greece and abroad. The main speaker was Mr. Michalis Varlas, head of the department.

During the event, those that attended learned how to participate in the Foundation’s Genealogy programme and to discover their roots, but also how to organize their family’s memories through photographs, documents and other material.

At the same time, and on the occasion of the completion of the web sites "Cultural and Genealogic Digital Collection of Central Macedonia" (http://makedonia.genealogies.gr/) and "Cultural and Genealogic Digital Collection of Attica" (http://attiki.genealogies.gr/), there was a presentation to the public of the Foundation’s work in the last 12 years about family history and memory.
