Presentation of the programmes of the department of Genealogy and Oral History at Chios, 18 May 2008
The programmes of the Genealogy and Oral History Department were presented at the theatre of the Museum of the Filoproodos Omada of Vrondados in Chios by the Head of the Department Mr. Michalis Varlas. The presentation took place as part of the event “The Museums as a factor of social changes and development”, which was organized due to the celebration of the International Museums Day on May 18th 2008.  After professor Mr. Giannis Gerekos and Ms Evgenia Stavraki, who referred extensively to Hellenic Cosmos and the exhibition “Is There An Answer to Everything. A journey to the world of Greek mathematics”, Mr. Michalis Varlas presented the Department’s work so far in his speech entitled “From the community of visitors to the community of creators. Writing history with the public at the Foundation of the Hellenic World”. Mr. Varlas pointed out, among other things, the importance of volunteers for the development of programmes related to memory and local history and presented the methodology that has been developed in FHW as a tool to enrich local and social history.
